Following the loss of the process chiller on a factory in Yorkshire, Rapid Chiller rentals were contacted to provide an emergency chiller to help the client restore their production. The chiller installed was a large MTA chiller that had burst its evaporator sending water the compressors causing serious damage.
Understanding the severity of the sitaution our representative opted not to attend site to survey, instead co-ordinated a response from our office. Taking vital sizes and connection point details before quoting and securing the clients order.
Once loaded the chiller was transported to site arriving at 11pm and was fully installed and commissioned the same day in the late evening during very challenging weather conditions. The outcome was production started back up at 1 am the following morning to the disappointment of the staff who believed they were getting the night off! And the joy of the senior shift managers who had been tasked with recovering the factory.
To cap this job off we have supplied a disaster recovery plan to the site free of charge to explain how they recover again should they need to. And given some numbers of suitable contractors that can be asked to look at repairs on the broken down chiller.
This project was a challenge, we had a good power supply but no opening windows to discharge the waste heat, we needed to get creative! if we were going to help. We achieved this by installing ducting that vented directly into the air extract, the fix is crude but allowed installation of 5 of our 7.3KW portable coolers that reduced the room temperature by an impressive 11 degrees.
Following a call from a local site engineering manager, to advise his chiller had tripped in the summer heat we rushed to help. On site in less than 30 minutes, our sales manager got our lead engineer on the phone who talked the site's services engineer through the chiller checklist and restart. No hire service was provided but the client, realising they were vunerable asked for a chiller contingency plan to be created, so the site is better prepared to cope if there isnt a fix in the future.
The client called us after finding our website on the internet. They needed three chillers servicing, we don't offer this service but we do have a good network of air-conditioning and industrial refrigeration contractors that provide the required service.
